Learn to knit beautiful socks from the toe up with Samira Hill! In this workshop, participants will learn all the techniques required to knit a beautiful pair of socks, using either double pointed needles or the Magic Loop technique, as well as the advantages of using the toe-up method.

Using local and seasonal flowers, leaves, roots and plant extracts, we’ll begin exploring the key aspects of working with natural dyes: fibre preparation, sourcing dyestuffs, setting dyes, safe dyeing practice and other tips and tricks and explore some of the many dyeplants found in our local landscapes.

In this workshop, tutor Elizabeth Williamson will take you through the basic stitches and techniques of Shetland lace knitting. At the end of the session, you will have a swatch of the Rosebud pattern on a garter base.

Cyanotype is a very old photography technique which needs only UV light and some small objects to create a stunning image. In this workshop Jeni will give you a brief history of the technique, showing examples of their own as inspiration. We will then use familiar objects from the world of fibre to make A4 cyanotype prints that can be taken home as a souvenir of the festival.

During the workshop you will be guided through the punch needle tools, fabric, frames and the punch needle technique as as well as receiving support to make a punch needle hoop wall art.

Join Tania of TJFrog to learn how to make a beautiful Dorset Button bouquet brooch using traditional Dorset Button techniques and French knots. The finished brooch, which uses a hollow brass ring and TJFrog Shorelines & Strata double knit Dorset wool, is approximately 4.5cm in diameter.

This is a project-based class providing an introduction to Fair Isle knitting using dpns. You will produce a small sample in the round which can be made into a cover for a small lavender bag while learning how to knit with yarn in both hands, read charts and other general techniques.

Tunisian Crochet is a great technique that combines some elements of both knitting and crochet yet can end up looking completely different! Add a craft to your repertoire and enjoy the fabric you create with your new skills!

We'll cover sizing, layout, construction, yardage, neck lines, cuffs, hems & using partial motifs and short rows to help with shaping. Using the student's own swatch and body measurements, we'll work through a series of worksheets to plan out their custom design.

Dyeing yarn is fast becoming a very popular hobby so Lisa has decided to share the tips and tricks she has learned from over a decade with you. This workshop will teach the basics of yarn dyeing. 

You will be supplied with all the materials you need to create a stunning skein of yarn (100g) plus 5 mini skeins which you will be able to take home and turn into a true one of a kind masterpiece!
