Join Helen on a walk through the surrounding area taking photos of landscapes or small close-up shots. Returning inside we will look at how our surroundings inspire colour within textiles, and how to incorporate these colour proportions into knitting and quilting projects. You will create yarn colour stripes based on the photos you have taken.
The walk will be approx. 3km with a mixture of the built environment and green spaces. This workshop combines Helen’s 30 years career in the textile industry and experience as a hill walking guide.
Skills Required
None! This is a beginner friendly workshop, but you must be able to walk 3km.

Everything you need for a comfortable walk outside: walking shoes, waterproof jacket, water bottle

Teacher Biography
Helen learnt to knit at a young age, igniting her passion for textiles which lead her to study Textile Design. She has worked in the textile industry for many years teaching and encouraging others to gain new textile skills.
Helen is also a Hill and Moorland Leader taking people out into the countryside. Her Colour Walks blend the inspiration of being outdoors and the textile design process.
